Heirloom

It may not look like much, but by my next birthday (hopefully) this unassuming little vine will be filling our yard with one of my favorite scents.  This honeysuckle is a cutting from a plant that sent waves of sweetness through my childhood bedroom window all summer long.  That plant had, in turn, been a cutting from a healthy vine that lived at my Gram's house in West Newbury.  More than 70 years old, and now handed down to its third generation of women - still small, and getting its "feet" in, but it seems happy doesn't it?  So am I.
