Things that make me question my creativity... and my sanity...
Katherine sent me this link to the Game Over Project, where 4 videos are posted. Each video is a "live action" depiction of a popular early video game like space invaders, and tetris. The live action is achieved by filming from overhead different configurations of people sitting in theatre seats, strung together in a stop-motion sort of effect. Who thinks up these things? And why did I just spend 10 minutes of my time watching them?

Joel Hodgson fans rejoice!
Jeff (yes, as in older brother I hardly ever get to talk to) emailed this morning to alert me to the fact that Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson has come back from whatever planet he has been residing on for the past who-knows-how-many years. Meet the new gig, Cinematic Titanic (much the same as the old gig), here.
Or check out a clip below:
I'm not sure why, but this all makes me very happy. (OK, so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with me being an uber-geek, but nonetheless...)

Strange indeed
Credit this find to a reader of Neil Gaiman's blog (with which I am completely and utterly obsessed, currently) who sent it to Neil thinking it would be the sort of site he would like. Neil did, and I thought Michaela, Queen of Maps, might be amused by it as well.
(OK, maybe not the first one, but keep scrolling after the page loads.)

And the countdown's on...
Album due out in April.
Yes, his hairline is receding at an alarming rate. And yes, he has cultivated an unfortunate 70's porn star mustache for this video.
But I hear the voice and still feel all squishy inside, with that unsettling mix of attraction and aversion that only he can evoke. And I can't wait until April.

The list of the BBC's Top 10 artists for 2008. Whacha think? Personally, I think Glasvegas has K's name all over it.

Post Number One, 2008
I've got no clever title for this post and nothing of importance to say (like "How is everyone?" or "Happy New Year!" How long is one allowed to say that into January in any case, really?) What I know right now is that...
1. I adore WQXR for broadcasting Simon Rattle's Mahler 9. The last movement just started and it may well be my favorite piece of music ever, as well as closest thing to religion that I have.
2. I'm going to listen to this on the train tomorrow morning. (Karen, is it just me, or does Philip Pullman look vaguely like my dad in that photo?? Maybe it's just his affect...)
