Rare Earth

I'm so ridiculously happy because I've just finished plying, washing, drying, and photographing the yarn I was spinning last week during Friendsgiving Break. I can't stop looking at it and thinking "Look! It's yarn! I made yarn!" Now I've just got to figure out what to make with it...leaning towards brioche rib scarf at the moment.

Tragedy

Some hideous blight has mysteriously attacked my copy of Neon Bible, and it refuses to play in my car stereo now without racing and skipping. Does anyone know if those products that claim to repair damaged cd surfaces actually work?

Apparently there is a new phenomenon taking root around the world: Complaint Choirs. These choirs compile complaints from the populace, and then create and perform choral pieces from them.

Here's an example from the Helsinki Complaint Choir (complete with subtitles so you know what they're complaining about):

Thanksgiving Friends...Friendsgiving Thanks

The journey back home to Massachusetts was generally as uneventful as the one down. We did hit a little traffic around the Palisades mall/Tappan Zee, but that was to be expected. After stopping for dinner, and dropping off JR and Anthony in CT, I continued homeward, and was tucked safe into bed by 11:30pm.

So... one last thank you to Stephen and Michaela for hosting Friendsgiving. And for putting on a feast worthy of the gods, especially Stephen's pie. To Jennie for giving me my first taste of the classic green bean casserole. To Michaela for trying to teach me how to spin, and for having more patience with me than I had with me. And to Anthony for finally cracking the Google search code that allowed me to find the freaky stop-motion film my art teacher showed us in 4th grade, proving herself to be more subversive than my 4th grade self ever would have known or imagined. You know what I'm going to say...

You guys are my LIFE! ;)
